IrBEA National Bioenergy Conference – Bioenergy Future Ireland 13 February 2019 – Croke Park

The IrBEA team and their media partners Box Media are gearing up for the National Bioenergy Conference next week,  Wednesday 13th February in Croke Park – Bioenergy Future Ireland, we have had a strong response from sponsors, exhibitors and delegates and we expect the numbers to grow over the coming days. The format for the day includes a morning session on ‘SSRH & Irish Policy Perspective’. Amongst the companies represented in this session include Coillte and Greenbelt, Des O’Toole, president of IrBEA and Maurice Ryan will be covering Biomass Mobilisation, presenting the current market position in the semi-state and private sector. Tom Sheehy from Clearpower will  discuss the Impact of SSRH for Heat Sector, Tom has significant experience managing fuel and heat contracts. We also look forward to hearing from Ray Langton (SEAI) who is the programme manager for SSRH, we hope to get final details on the implementation of Sustainable Scheme for Renewable Heat.

Session 2 – ‘Industry in Action’ will include business case studies. Geraldine O’Sullivan with her wealth of experience from the IFA will discuss developments from a forestry perspective. Headline Sponsors CPL Industries and their CEO Tim Minett will discuss the work they have been doing on Torrified Fuels. James Cogan from Ethanol Europe is going to be focusing on biofuels & transport energy, he is IrBEA’s expert policy analyst in this field. In the waste and AD sector we have a strong speaker in James Russell who works at Biocore as a technical Director, he will discuss his involvement in developing anaerobic digestion, waste management, sludge and biosolids solutions. Peter Moran from Abbvie will discuss the potential for bioenergy in the pharmaceutical industry, he will discuss both the setbacks and the need for government support for these industries to embrace this sector.

The afternoon session will cover  ‘Innovation & Product Opportunities’. Seamus McCabe of Green Investment will lend his experience and discuss funding opportunities in Ireland. He is currently the GIG investment manager for the world’s largest dedicated biomass power station (MGT Teesside) that will enter commercial operation in early 2020. Sponsors DWF – Chris Wheeler and John Palmer will advise on Project Initiation for potential investors. We will also have Jerry Murphy from UCC and the MaRIE Centre who will be presenting on power to gas systems, We will also have Jerry Murphy from MaRIE Centre who will be presenting looking at the contribution biomethane production can make to increasing Ireland’s bioenergy capacity.
