The European Commission has launched anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into biodiesel imports from the United States into the EU. Complaints submitted by European industry players provide evidence of US dumping biodiesel in the European market, and subsidies to the US biodiesel industry. The Commission will consider whether such measures produce adverse effect on the European biodiesel industry; it is expected to make provisional findings by 13 March 2009.

A Study on the Options for Commercial Arrangements for Small-Scale Renewable & CHP Generators in Ireland
As you may be aware, Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) is conducting a programme assessing the potential and infrastructure requirements for small-scale embedded generation in Ireland, at the request of the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, in order to inform advice to the Minister. As part of that programme SEI has recently commissioned Cambridge Economic Policy Associates (CEPA), working with SQW Energy, to carry out a Study on the Options for Commercial Arrangements for Small Scale Renewable and CHP Electricity Generators in Ireland.
SEI has required that the consultants seek views of affected stakeholders. The Invitation to Tender was published on the Government E-tenders website on 14/3/2008 and can be viewed online at http://www.etenders.gov.ie/search/show/search_view.aspx?ID=MAR100239.
As we understand a number of parties which are likely to be interested in the study will be attending Sustainable Energy Ireland's Micro-Generation information day on the morning of 30th September, a session has been arranged for the afternoon of that day at the same venue - the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The session will begin at 14.00 and is likely to last approximately an hour and a half, depending on the amount of discussion.
It will involve a description of the scope of, and proposed approach to, the study and provide an opportunity for CEPA & SQW Energy to understand the views of interested stakeholders from across the renewable energy sector. We will also be available for bilateral discussions with parties later in the afternoon. We would be grateful if you could indicate whether you would be interested in attending the session and/or in holding bilateral discussions. Should you wish to do so, please contact

A copy of a report providing more detail on the proposed methodology, presentations and an agenda will be circulated to parties that indicate an interest in attending ahead of the meeting. Yours Sincerely Mark Copley CEPA Senior Consultant
