The European Biomass Association, has set itself the task of producing a Roadmap for the biomass pellet industry. It is envisaged that the Roadmap will:
· Quantify the contribution that pellets can make to the achievement of 2020 targets for bio-energy use and greenhouse gas reduction
· Contain policy guidelines for national governments to assist the development of the pellet industry
· Support biofuel developers and national bio-energy associations in lobbying for appropriate supports for the pellet industry.
To date members of the AEBIOM staff have produced a draft Roadmap that was the basis for discussion at a Workshop "A Pellet Roadmap for Europe" on June 26 in Brussels; on the basis of those discussions they have now produced an updated and final version of the roadmap which is attached below.

Attached is a document that reports AEBIOM's position on Renewables directive.
Also enclosed is AEBIOM's presentation on the renewable directive, which was made during AEBIOM General Assembly in Valladolid. This presentation is important from the biomass sector perspective of the European Commission, European Parliament, Council and AEBIOM. It was also updated according to the recent developments in the Council.
It was forwarded by Edita Vagonyte the European Affairs Manager.

The Dept of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has just issued its proposals for a Biofuels Obligation Scheme to replace the current Motor Oil Tax Relief programme, when it expires in 2010. The scheme will have a critical effect on the development of biofuel production and use in Ireland over the next ten years, and its details should be examined closely by everyone concerned with the industry - raw material producers and suppliers, biofuel processors and distributors, and users especially fleet owners. Responses to the paper are invited by Nov 24.
