Oireactheas Members Meeting

On 22nd July Tom Bruton - President of IrBEA and Noel Gavigan - IrBEA Executive met with the Labour Party Spokesperson on Energy, Liz McManus in Dail Eireann. Ms McManus was presented with an overview of IrBEA and a number of current topics were discussed during the 1 1/2 hour meeting.
Of particular interest was the current difficulties in getting grid connections for biomass/CHP/AD plants, the extreme difficulties in the PPO/BioFuel industry with the working arrangements of the BioFuel Obligation Scheme, and the delays in the REFIT III scheme.
Liz McManus proved to be well briefed and very interested in the development of bioenergy, she has both sought further information from IrBEA and has recommended that IrBEA speak to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Change and Energy when the Dail resumes this autumn. IrBEA is a non political assocciation and will strive to meet with representatives of all parties, and in particular members of the above joint committee before officially speaking to the committee.
